Sweeping through the city of Redding, CA, The Carr Fire took over 1,000 homes. One of these happened to be ours, along with our manufacturing facility that was the heart and soul of AKEENi.
Returning after
When our family was finally allowed to return to our property after the fire, we found our house leveled and our production facility completely burnt through. Only ashes and twisted metal remained.
Our Production
All the tools used to prototype and manufacture our wallets were destroyed and unusable. The future was looking grim for AKEENi.
Hope rising
A single wallet was recovered from the ashes, where days before the AKEENi team had finished our first commercial run of prototypes. This gave us hope for the future.
A Company
The effort we put towards building this company from the ground up helped support our family through this dark time. Today, we are still 100% family owned and working towards a bright future.
